Four villages and the surrounding communities came together and formed River Valley Schools. It was agreed that each village would retain an elementary school and Spring Green would be home to the high school campus. Later, a middle school campus was created and located in Spring Green. The national experiment with middle schools has been questionable. It is time to create a vocational training center in place of the middle school.
It is time to step up to the plate and keep the award winning schools in Lone Rock and Arena, to let them maintain their identities and survive in the modern world of education. Spring Green – you are noted for Frank Lloyd Wright, theatre, and arts and crafts. What could be better than adding a vocational training center to meet the needs of students in the River Valley district and enrich the labor force for the entire region. A vocational training center also has a high potential for reversing the negative trend of students leaving the district by school choice and for attracting new students to the district. This is a win-win for everyone.
